Getting to the Isle of Wight
The Island is located just off the centre of Southern England and is linked to the mainland ports of Lymington, Southampton and Portsmouth. There are three major ferry operators, however, the Red Funnel car ferry from Southampton docks at East Cowes just a few minutes drive from Waverley Park and around a 15 minute walk (see map below). The mainland ferry terminals of Southampton and Portsmouth are both linked to London by fast rail and motorways. Tickets can be purchased straight through to some Island destinations, to include the ferry crossing. The London airports of Heathrow and Gatwick are both about one and a half hours by road from the ferry terminals.
Red Funnel Ferries (Tel 023 8033 4010) - Southampton to East Cowes Passenger and Vehicle Ferry. Runs from early morning to late at night. Services about every hour. Journey time 55 minutes.
